Guitarist Tim Sult (Clutch) and drummer Jesse Shultzaberger (The Woodshedders) got together in 2011 to experiment with some new sounds and jam. Shortly after, Logan Kilmer (Noetic Pull) joined the ranks on bass. Toward the end of that year, Briena Pearl was invited to sing, and with the addition of vocals, Deep Swell's dynamic sound was forged.
